Alice Cooper – Love It To Death (1971)

February 8, 2025

Things take a general uptick for the better on Alice Cooper’s third album. The production, once again, is absolutely fantastic in every possible way and makes this a dream to listen to. Speaking of dreams, opener “Caught In A Dream” (doesn’t Napalm Death have a track with the exact same name? ha) gets us off to a flying start, a start made even stronger by the incredible “I’m Eighteen”; one of Alice’s biggest hits for sure. Whilst I appreciate the boldness of “Black Juju” it does kill the pacing a little, but the second half of the record is redeemed by the fucking incredible “Ballad of Dwight Fry” and the lovely closing track “Sun Arise”, which takes us peacefully out the other side.
