Ancestors Blood – Hyperborea (2016)

Truly, this is a stunning album. In a lot of black metal the synthesizers feel either like an afterthought or just a texture that helps fill out the soundstage. On Hyperborea, Ancestors Blood really take things to new heights with an incredible synthesizer addition. They have always been a part of the sound since the beginning, but here more than ever they help to lead the compositions rather than just compliment them. The production is fantastic, but still retains that frosty bite that you want from black metal.
