Raging Speedhorn – Hard To Kill (2020)

After a long and varied career, Speedhorn come somewhat full circle in 2020 with the excellent Hard To Kill. IMO this is the closest the band get to capturing “what makes Raging Speedhorn so good” in something like 18 years. And no – that’s not a call from me to stick to their core sound and nothing more, but they certainly did have a balance of styles in the first two records which worked hugely in their favour. That balance seems restored here, is all I’m saying. Excellent production from Russ Russell too (who did the previous album too but that’s oddly a bit more muted; Russell’s work is usually much brighter and in your face, just see any Napalm Death record of the last 20 years LOL).
