Dwarves – The Dwarves Invented Rock & Roll (2014)

December 15, 2024

For all their early reputation and absurd live performances; their sketchy vibe and sleazy attitude… by the time we get to The Dwarves Invented Rock & Roll they have fallen firmly and squarely into the camp of “old punk rockers singing about the same shit they did when they were teenagers.” On one hand, you can commend them for staying true (or returning to their core / root sound and sticking with it), but on the other it feels kind of redundant. What’s the point in all of this? We’ve heard it all before.

The band at this point still revolves around the core of Blag and He Who Must Not Be Named, backed up with basically half of Mondo Generator and a series of drummers including the guy who’s now in the Foo Fighters. Oh, and Dexter Holland is back for more guesties! How can such a stacked lineup of legends create an album so bland, I hear you ask? Well, I have the same question, and unfortunately, no answers for you.
