Future Of The Left – Polymers Are Forever (2011)

Polymers Are Forever is a short EP from FOTL, released a few years after the previous record and shortly before the band recorded their third album. The first thing of note here is the sheer drop in production quality compared to the first two albums. The Plot Against Common Sense has a similar muffled production but the tracks here seem like demos, if anything.

That also seems to make them more experimental, I’d say. FOTL is always a bit weird but the songs here seem extra strange. Closing track “destroywhitchurch.com” outstays its welcome a bit but otherwise, once you’ve adjusted to the muted production, this is a fun listen, even if things feel a bit “off”.
