Mor Eressëa – Haunted Shores and Coasts (2020)

Mor Eressea is a project of one Morgan James, from it seems the Swansea area which isn’t too far from me, actually.

There’s a bunch of stuff out from this project but the one I gave a full listen to all the way through was Haunted Shores and Coasts, where it seems both the history of and beautiful landscapes of The Gower has inspired multiple tracks of dense atmospheric black metal.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Gower myself and a quick glance at any ordnance survey map will reveal a seemingly endless glut of ancient burial grounds. The coastline,perhaps famously at Worms Head, also the title of a song here give or take some spelling differences, also is just as breathtaking and ancient.

Mor Eressea, if I am indeed spelling that correctly (probably not), captures these environments beautifully and I can’t wait to check out more of this project when I have the time.
