Charles Mingus – Black Saint And The Sinner Lady (1963)

I’ve given this a few listens over the last few weeks. It was one of the records I used to test the Sony WH3’s (I forget the full name), and probably one of the only things that actually sounded good through those overpriced cans. Anyway, I digress. I find Black Saint And The Sinner Lady to be rather inpenetrable, which is unusual, considering the breadth of mental jazz that I have listened to over the last 12 months. I don’t know what it is, but the compositions here are difficult for me to get into.

Either way, its a gorgeously assembled album with some phenomenal sounds. That much I can tell you.
